O is for Overplayed Bareto

→  July 28th, 2009  →  Infovore  Peru 2009

I will never, ever be able to get this song out of my head, ever. Bareto is Peru’s most famous band. And this was their most popular song during our time there.
The song was even played on Cruz del Sur promotional videos. This is not a good song to hear just before trying to [...]

Easy Listening Project: Steps 3 & 4

→  July 9th, 2009  →  Infovore

Still plugging along with my Easy Listening Project. Here are the next two steps:
STEP 3: Clear the play count and star rating for your music and start over.
I’m hesitant to do this, but am ready to pull the trigger as soon as I’m done with Step 2. I think starting fresh with the play count [...]

Easy Listening Project: Steps 1 & 2

→  June 27th, 2009  →  Infovore  Peru 2009

I generally have a hard time deciding what music to listen to…
I have my go-to artists. Okay, I have one go-to artist, period. Morcheeba. But they don’t work in lots of situations, so I end up sitting in silence a lot.
I think a major reason for this is that I’m not very intimate with [...]

New Christmas Music

→  December 19th, 2008  →  Holidays  Infovore

Some new additions to my Christmas music collection this year:

This Warm December
I bought this for Mason Jenning’s Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I was hoping the rest would be as good, but it’s just so-so.
Rogue Wave’s Christmas, Zach Gill’s Silent Night and Jack Johnson’s Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer are other stand [...]

Baby Shower Playlist

→  December 8th, 2008  →  Family & Friends  Infovore

I searched everywhere for some inspiration when creating this playlist for Jen’s baby shower. I couldn’t find anything online other than lists and lists of songs with ‘baby’ in them. Ugh. Overdone.
Here’s what I ended up pulling from my collection. It was nice for the party… pretty non-intrusive, good background stuff.

Adele
My SameRight As Rain

Alexi [...]

Trading up.

→  August 14th, 2008  →  Infovore

I’ve been using Swaptree.com to trade Scott’s bad movie collection for books I want to read.
It’s a very easy to use website… You create a free account and then create a list of (1) what books you own and are willing to trade and (2) what books you want in exchange. The website hooks you [...]

Music curator: The Walkmen.

→  August 6th, 2008  →  Infovore

I need to give myself some more credit for being a pretty good music curator. Scott and I were having a conversation this weekend about who ‘found’ what music and introduced it into our relationship… I always assumed our music interests were driven by Scott. He introduced us to Morcheeba and Ben Kweller, afterall.
But, I’m [...]
