  • This agency hosts a number of different Lake Titicaca tours. We took the 1-day Classic Taquila tour, which included a stop at Uros as well.
  • If we had more time, I would have loved to stay on the island with a local family!
  • Note: Bring a book or something to do on the boat ride! It’s 3hrs each way!

Lake Titicaca Islands

  • Go with a reputable agency, like All Ways Travel (see above for contact).
  • If you have the time, consider staying on one of the islands with a local family!

Sillustani Ruins & Traditional Home Visit

  • Easily reached by hiring a taxi for 4-5 hours. Should cost around $25.
  • Ask the driver to stop at one of the traditional homes along the route on your way back from the ruins. We were able to spend about 20 minutes with a family. We gave them a small tip, and bought some of their craft items.

Chuquito

  • Skip-able, but interesting if you have the time.
  • Chuquito has a somewhat controversial fertility temple, a nice main plaza, a lookout over Lake Titicaca, and two huge sculptures of Incans along the main road.
  • Take a taxi from Puno for about $20.
