Thursday was my first day of classes for the University of Washington MBA program! I’m still in shock that I was accepted, let alone starting up classes. Wasn’t I just on a beach in Peru?!
This first set of classes is called “Jump Start”, which is a week long boot camp refresher of quantitative methods, accounting and finance. Yesterday started out with an opening lunch, some welcome messages and “speed networking” with fellow classmates. (I know, tough start!) We also got a Foster School of Business water bottle and name tag that I proudly wore it all the way home on the bus yesterday, and, um, today.
I think our class could have “networked” for the rest of the day after lunch. We were cut off though for the serious stuff… a 4-hour session on quantitative methods. A lot of this was review for me, but stuff I haven’t used since the GMAT. The second day, a 3-hour session on quantative methods, touched on things I vaguely remember from high school calc.
So, my brain is full today. And I’m very glad it’s Friday.
In the mean time, I’m also renting books and buying course packs (aka thick packets of copywrited cases and articles), waiting for my fancy financial calculator to come in from Amazon, and trying to find the swimming pool in Balmer Hall that a 2nd year student told me about.
Har har. Just kidding, that’s an undergrad Freshman joke. I will be in my own swimming pool this weekend! Excited for the 80 degree weather!!
