Hrm… I can already tell I´m not going to like this locutorio thing. Internets are slower than what we have at home! Plus no LiveWriter or Photoshop… sad times.
Let me fill you in. My backpack was stolen last weekend on a bus we were taking to Moquegua. It was literally stored right above our heads… ¡Ladrones son expertos! Sadly my backpack had my laptop, half of my clothes (including my Chaco sandals), and all of my prescription meds. Going to file a police report today, and hoping that our homeowners insurance does what it says it should and covers it all.
In other news… We´re on the move.
We will be leaving Arequipa in about two weeks, after a trip to the Colca Canyon. We´re wrapping up our Spanish lessons, and starting to take things off the walls in our apartment. It feels like we just got here, although I´m super stoked to get to Trujillo and the immense number of ruins in Northern Peru.
We also bought our tickets for moving back home, home! That felt good given what a bummer weekend it was… (Note: We also consoled ourselves by eating dinner at Burger King on Saturday, and Domino´s on Sunday. Taking solace in American fast food just felt like the right thing to do.)
We´re going to swing through Australia before landing in Seattle on August 9th. Scott´s mom lives in Brisbane, and he´s never visited. It seemed like the right time, given we were going to have to fork out the cash to get ourselves home anyway. This was only nominally more expensive.
That´s the plan
I´m planning on becoming one with the locutorio, at the very least to keep up my pace of posting on here. Don´t plan on very many photos!! I will do my best.
Damn. This is bummer news lady. I saw Jen and her Mom at Vios today. Her Mom knew of your unfortunate experience before I did! I told her she’s sweet for keeping up on our blogs. Jen also said she’s in for September! We will be the three culinary amigos. It will be great. Peace and love, lady.
Sorry to hear about your laptop and your Chacos…the shame! Do you plan to go the rest of the time without a laptop…or sandals?
Good luck with the insurance reimbursement!
That totally sucks about the computer. My condolences.
Jen and I filled her in at dinner on Sunday but also said she should start reading it. I check your blog everyday before work.
Such fun adventures to read about.
Bummer your shoes!
A lady needs at least two pair no matter what.
Let us know if you want us to bring anything.
My sister is hopefully coming down in June… (The trip is pending employment! She´s just graduating from her MPH program.) We´re going to replace the laptop and probably the Chacos for her to bring down… not going to replace the clothes. Going to skimp by till we´re back.
We just saw the same type of laptop I had for sale here… it costs DOUBLE what it would to purchase it in the states. Crazy tariffs!!
Jen´s mom reads my blog? Or did Jen fill her in? She is a sweet lady! And if she´s reading this, she should leave a comment!!
Glad Jen´s on board for September!! I´m excited!!
That´s awesome Melissa! I love it.
Hi Allison. I’m here, enjoying your adventures with you.
Hi Jen´s mom! =) How fun. I hope you had a nice visit to Seattle!!
