Scott and I have been taking Spanish lessons for about a week now with Ericka at Sumaq Marka. Ericka is great. The lessons are interactive and fun. And we’re learning a lot. There is nothing like learning and practicing Spanish in a Spanish speaking country!
To change it up a bit this morning, Ericka taught us how to make ceviche. Authentic Peruvian ceviche. Peru is the “birthplace of ceviche”, so any other concoction called ceviche that you may have tried probably should have been called something else. Unless you tried it in Peru.
Peruvian ceviche includes fish or shellfish, limes, and hot peppers. Everything is basically put together to marinate/cook the fish. When served, it also includes sweet potatoes and corn on the cob.
I would go into more detail, except Ericka taught us many secrets to making ceviche that we are not privvy to share.
In addition to the ceviche, Ericka’s son taught us how to make Pisco Sours and Algarrobinas.
Here are some pictures from our day. (Unfortunately our group shot didn’t come out! I’m hoping to get some photos of everyone from Ericka.)
p.s. “Chevere” is a way of saying “cool”. A cheesy title for this post!

you both look dorky but very cute in those hats!
