We hit the Pachacamac ruins bright and early this morning. We’re on Eastern time here, so we were probably finished before you even got in to work today! Getting there early let us avoid the hot hot afternoon sun, and after we were done walking around the complex it was time to eat the lunch we had packed. It was a really nice trip.
The ruins themselves were great… It’s a pre-Incan complex of temples, administrative buildings and residential areas. There were three different civilizations that used it and made their own improvements and additions to it. So different areas had different types of construction… One of which was called “librero” because the adobe bricks are stacked like books. We saw this same type of construction at Huaca Pucllana as well.
We ‘scaled’ the 200 foot high Sun Temple, which had a great view of the ocean on the other side. The walk around the entire complex (including up to the Sun Temple and back) was about two miles and took us about an hour.
I’ve posted a few pano photos on my Flickr. You can enlarge them for more detail, you know, if you’re into that kind of thing.
